How to Reset a Dell Inspiron 1420 Keyboard
The Inspiron 1420 is a laptop manufactured by Dell. Occasionally, the internal software drivers for the Dell Inspiron 1420 keyboard may become corrupt or require patching, thereby preventing the keyboard from being used. Learn how to reset a Dell Inspiron 1420 keyboard to regain the keyboard's functionality.
Restart the Dell Inspiron 1420. Click the "Start" menu in the lower left-hand corner of the screen and select "Restart." Rebooting the Inspiron resets the internal system cache and may resolve any sudden software conflicts that are preventing the keyboard from functioning. If restarting does not resolve your problem, continue to Step 2.
Download a new driver for the Dell Inspiron 1420 keyboard from the official Dell support website (see Resources). Replacing the internal driver software for the Inspiron keyboard will reset the keys.
Click the "Start" menu and select the "Control Panel." Double-click "Add/Remove Hardware."
Select your keyboard from the drop-down menu. Click "Remove." This uninstalls the Dell Inspiron 1420 keyboard and its keyboard driver software.
Launch the driver software that you downloaded in Step 2. Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall the drivers.
Restart your computer. You have now reset the Dell Inspiron 1420 keyboard and may resume using it.
